Toyota Saves Trees…by the Millions

How do you save a few million trees and a few hundred million bucks?  Boot the box. Kick the carton. Punt the packaging.

More than a decade ago, Toyota began using returnable containers for shipping parts and accessories. The environmental impact so far: saving 308 million pounds of wood and 185 million pounds of cardboard, the equivalent of 2.5 million trees. It also adds up to $445 million in cost savings for the company...and that’s no pulp fiction.*
