Like other companies in Japan, the U.S. and elsewhere, Toyota is working to support disaster relief efforts:
- Emergency Vehicles, Housing and Supplies – Toyota is providing approximately 250 cars for local government authorities to use in four of the areas hardest hit by the disaster. We are also working to provide nearly 500 apartments in Aichi Prefecture for people evacuated from affected areas.
- Relief Convoys – Shortly after the tsunami, Toyota began sending truckloads of medical and emergency supplies to victims in affected regions. So far, more than 87 trucks have made deliveries and six tankers have been sent to provide water.
- Fundraising – Toyota-related contributions to support relief efforts in Japan have reached more than $11.7 million to date. Toyota employees, dealers, suppliers and other business partners in North America have donated more than $7.0 million to relief efforts. Toyota will be matching the employee portion of this contribution. In addition, Toyota in Japan has donated 300 million yen (about $3.75 million) to support the relief efforts. July 28, 2011 – Erlanger, KY – In the aftermath following the tornados that struck parts of the southern United States earlier this spring, Toyota’s Japan employees asked how they could reciprocate the gesture of giving to those in need.

NEW YORK, NY (March 16, 2011; Posted at 3:15 PM EDT) Regarding Toyota's North American operations, so far the impact is limited. All 13 North American vehicle and engine plants are running normally, although overtime has been curtailed for now to assure we maintain adequate inventories of parts that come from Japan. In addition, since most parts and materials for Toyota's North American-built vehicles are provided by suppliers in North America, this helps insulate Toyota's North American plants from production interruptions in Japan.
